Traditionally played standing up, the Djembe can also be played in a seated position, and sometimes even with a supporting harness. It is very versatile, and can be played solo, or in an ensemble. To make a rhythm strike the drum skin with both hands. It can produce a range of different tones depending on how you hit the skin. Try experimenting and you will discover a variety of techniques! The primary notes are generally referred to as 'bass', 'tone' & 'slap' The 'slap' has a high, sharp sound, the 'tone' is more round and full, and the 'bass' is the lowest. Supplied in assorted designs and colours. We have a range of different size for your to choose from!

History: A Djembe is a skin covered hand drum, shaped like a large goblet,
and meant to be played with bare hands. According to the Bamana people in Mali,
the name of the Djembe comes directly from a saying which translates to
"everyone gather together", and defines the drum's purpose!
