The Cabassa is a beaded shaker. The outer surface of the Cabassa is strung with a net of beads (not removeable) which produce a rattling sound when shaken or twisted against the large hollow head. Extremely tactile, the Cabassa is a percussion instrument which is played both by shaking, and by rubbing the net of beads against the head. Try experimenting to produce sounds of a rattlesnake, the sea, the rain... let your imagination free! This instrument is frequently used in music therapy, as it requires minimal hand movement to produce a sound. We have a great range to choose from.
