PROPRIOCEPTION/VESTIBULAR

Proprioception, often referred to as the sixth sense, is one of the most important in any sensory diet, along with kinesthesia and the vestibular system. They are required to organise and achieve movement, balance & control of the body. Play and activities encouraging the proprioception & vestibular senses, provide calming input to the body, developing body awareness, balance and motor planning, and helping to organise and increase alertness. Care should be taken to prevent overstimulation.
