Our small but valuable collection of adults books will help tap into the memories of adults, the elderly, people living with all stages of dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or following a stroke or brain injury, to open up a window of meaningful conversation, communication and connection, and promote social skills. Our reminiscence collection includes an entertaining selection of nostalgic, retro, classic, and pastime topics including hobbies and occupations. Excellent for engaging in day-to-day meaningful conversations with individuals to reduce agitation, and ideal for Activity Co-ordinators as an ice-breaker for social activity. Use independently, one-to-one, in a group, or children joining in with adults is especially enjoyable.
TIPS: Concentrate on what the individual can do, not what they can’t, some may require assistance including finding the right words or turning the pages, whilst others may wish to remain independent. If they don’t wish to participate in an active way, allow them to remain passive and observe and listen from afar.
BENEFITS: Educational, inspiring and developing communication and social skills.
